The story goes that the President of Volleyball was asked by a groups of Beach Volleyball girls if they could wear different match uniforms. His response was: “Do you want to be on television or not?” He has a point, you throw some long shorts and baggy tops on the athletes and we’ll likely go back to our laptops.
We can’t help it! There’s something about attractive sportswomen that we’re absolute suckers for! If they like your favourite beer as well then stop looking, you’ve found the one.
London 2012 has brought the world’s hottest female athletes together for a festival of sport and eye boggling action. Here we’ll countdown PlayUp’s top 5 hotties of this year’s Olympic Games. And don’t worry, the German shot putters didn’t get in…
5) Josefine Oqvist (Football)
At five, it’s the customary Swedish woman that you’ll find on every hot list. Football star Josefine Oqvist certainly brings glamour to the women’s football pitch, making it almost worth sitting through!
Oqvist recently became a YouTube sensation when she climbed into the stands after a match and swapped shirts with a lucky male fan.
If a man could ask for anything to come from watching women’s football then it’s a shirt swap with one of the players… Or an invite to the team shower but let’s not get carried away.
4) Jessica Ennis (Athletics)
Here she is, it’s Great Britain’s Olympic sweetheart and heptathlon gold medallist Jessica Ennis. Jess won a place in our hearts with her inspirational performance in this year’s Games, and also a place in our fantasies!
A woman that is strong enough to carry a whole nation’s hopes, and win a physically challenging competition without looking like they should be called ‘Ron’ is sexy in our book!
What a woman, how many of us would love to put an Olympic ring on her finger!
3) Melanie Adams (Pole Vault)
Australian pole vaulter Melanie Adams is undoubtedly the hottie of track and field. She was a finalist in the Miss Teen Australia pageant of 2006, and has since expressed her desire to compete in Miss Universe.
Men in Australia were said to be waking up at 2am just to watch Adams vault and praying for a close up of the Olympic beauty. Wonder what reason they told their wives for these early awakenings…
As an athlete, Adams has a personal best of 3.8 metres, showing that she is just as talented at handling a pole as she is at posing in front of the camera.
2) The Bums (Beach Volleyball)
How could we possibly leave this off of the list? The Brazilians and the Brits have certainly given the crowd what they paid their money for in the beach volleyball – the fans definitely didn’t get a bum deal here… Oh yes they did!
It’s the only sport in the world where no-one really keeps track of the score or even cares who wins! All we really care about is having a cheeky look at the athletes’… cheeks.
In all fairness, how can we resist?
1) Bia and Branca Feres (Synchronised Swimming)
Our number one hotties of the London 2012 Olympics are these heart-stoppingly gorgeous synchronised swimming sisters from Brazil.
The average synchronised swimmer can hold their breath under water for up to three minutes. Tremendous lungs.
Bia and Branca are identical twins, which doesn’t really matter, what matters is that you’d be over the moon to even share the same pool water with either one of them!
Wow.
