Social sports network PlayUp has partnered with the two major National Rugby League (NRL) supporter fan groups – the Manly Sea Eagles Silvertails and St George Dragons supporter group Dragon Fire – to offer fans a unique opportunity to talk with their support base about the action live via their mobile device.
Silvertails fans had their first opportunity to banter with one another via the App during the big game against the Bulldogs last weekend.
Silvertails founder Dan Hewes said the unique feature of PlayUp is that supporters can follow the score and feel more closely connected to other fans during the game without having to be there in person.
“We’ve partnered with PlayUp as we want to provide a live game experience for all Silvertails fans.
“This technology allows Silvertails fans to share their opinion about all the crucial big game moments no matter if they are at the game, at home or otherwise through their mobile device, “ Dan said.
On the back of the Silvertails, this week NRL St George Dragons supporter group Dragon Fire became the second supporter group to partner with the innovative social network and will provide a live game hangout in PlayUp during tonight’s game against the Cowboys.
PlayUp Founder and CEO George Tomeski explained that PlayUp provides sporting organisations with a fantastic opportunity to utilise its technology and interactive features for free to create interactive mobile chat rooms for fans.
“It’s a great advantage to be able to chat with like-minded fans during games and now clubs and supporter groups can use this mobile technology to provide their fans with a mobile social environment dedicated to the live game all connected to their existing social graph,” George said.
“Soon we’ll offer even more interactivity for supporter groups though multimedia, prediction based features and third party apps to enable anyone to create a dynamic real time environment.”
The St George Dragons game starts at 7.35pm tonight with the Manly Sea Eagles game kicking off at 2pm on Sunday.
